Hunting

We are permitted by Nature Conservation to hunt all year round, but it is not advised to hunt in the hot months from November to February. The best months for hunting are April to September. We recommend a minimum of 7 hunting days for a safari, excluding day of arrival and day of departure, to ensure a good bag of quality trophies. Our average safaris are booked for ten days, but can go up to 21 days.

Our professional hunters and trackers are highly qualified, experienced and dedicated men that will strive to get you record book trophies and make your hunting experience most enjoyable.

Fully trained skinners will ensure that your trophies are prepared and treated with the care it deserves.

For plains game any calibre from .270 upwards will be suitable. For bird shooting a 12 gauge shotgun is recommended. Firearms and ammunition can be hired by prior arrangement.

Many hunters are concerned about bringing rifles to South Africa because of our recent change in gun laws. which is mainly due to the lack of, and/or, wrong information.

Kolobe Adventures has been accredited by the SAPS (SA Police) for this purpose.

You will need the following documentation to bring your rifles into the country

  • Passport and certified copy of passport of gun owner:
  • Return flight tickets to country of origin
  • Proof of ownership (In case of US citizens, a 4457 certificate, obtainable from US Customs. In case of UK citizens, a firearms certificate will suffice. Other nations all have some form to prove that they are indeed the owner of their guns.)
  • SAP 520 form which we will forward to you (Please do not sign this at home but in the presence of the police officer at the airport. Please use black ink.)
  • Letter of invitation from the outfitter, ensuring the outfitter’s permit number is on the invitation. We will send you this upon booking the safari
